The Excel integration is more telling than the funding number. It signals OpenAI's real strategy: becoming infrastructure that 1.5 billion Office users cannot remove. The deprecation cycles are equally important. Three to six months means anyone building on specific GPT model versions faces forced migrations at startup speed. Meta's Quiet Agent Infrastructure Play
Meta acquired Moltbook (an agent social network), signed a 6GW AMD GPU deal over 5 years, and is building an internal-only agent framework codenamed Avocado/Mango. All of it is advertising-centric.
Meta is building the anti-OpenAI: a closed agent ecosystem optimized for ad revenue, not a developer platform. The AMD deal signals willingness to fragment the GPU supply chain to avoid Nvidia dependency. The 6GW figure is a datacenter footprint rivaling small nations. But the real signal is that these agents are built for advertising, not productivity. Meta believes the first mass-market agent use case is buying things, not building things.

Mercury introduces diffusion-based LLMs that generate tokens in parallel rather than sequentially. The open-source release could reset inference efficiency assumptions across the industry.
